The E. Nakamichi Foundation encourages the appreciation of fine forms of classical music by underwriting public performances that are well supported by the local community.

Since its establishment in 1985, The E. Nakamichi Foundation has received grant applications from more than 600 different organizations, awarding millions of dollars in grants to dozens of organizations across the country.

In 2008, the Foundation began limiting applications to organizations that received a grant between 2000 and 2007. Those groups are welcome to apply for future grants.

Updates as of 2020

During the initial 35 years of operation, the Foundation has emphasized the support of baroque period music performances. However, starting in 2016 the Foundation wishes to shift our support to the performances of music by Classical and Romantic period composers.

We are currently accepting grant applications for a specific (not a series of performances) performance in calendar year 2021.

The online grant application submission deadline for the Spring Board Meeting is March 15, 2020
