The E. Nakamichi Foundation encourages the appreciation of fine forms of classical music by underwriting public performances that are well supported by the local community.

Since its establishment in 1985, The E. Nakamichi Foundation has received grant applications from more than 600 different organizations, awarding millions of dollars in grants to dozens of organizations across the country.

In 2008, the Foundation began limiting applications to organizations that received a grant between 2000 and 2007. Those groups are welcome to apply for future grants.

Updates as of October 7, 2020

During the initial 35 years of operation, the Foundation has emphasized the support of baroque period music performances. However, starting in 2016 the Foundation wishes to shift our support to the performances of music by Classical and Romantic period composers.

As of this update, there will NOT be a Fall 2020 or Spring 2021 grant cycle.

The applications that were accepted during the Spring 2020 application period will remain accepted; however, we will not accept any additional grant applications during the Fall 2020 or Spring 2021 application period.

At this time, we expect to have a Fall 2021 grant cycle for calendar year 2023 performances. When a firm decision has been made, we will update this site.

We deeply regret that we must significantly reduce our grant giving activities for the foreseeable future. Should there be any changes to the current situation, we will communicate those updates through this website.

As of this update, there will NOT be a Fall 2020 or Spring 2021 grant cycle.
